Today marks the release of the third Call of Duty: Black Ops map pack, Annihilation, bringing with it four all-new multiplayer maps and a brand new zombie mode map.
According to developer Treyarch’s community manager Josh Olin, the Annihilation map pack is rolling out for Xbox 360 owners as you read this.
From a Twitter posting by Olin:
“Alright folks… [Annihilation” is rolling out as we speak on Xbox LIVE (may take time to propagate). I am downloading now, so give it a try!”
This tweet was then followed up by another by Olin to clarify:
“It may take time to propagate to your area. That’s unfortunately outside of our control, but the good news is: It’s happening!”
While you’re waiting (either for the map pack to download or for it to reach your part of the world), you can leaf through a brand new batch of screenshots and an epic trailer showcasing the Shangri-La zombie mode map.
The Annihilation map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops costs of 1200 MS Points and will net you four multiplayer maps titled ‘Hangar 18,’ ‘Drive-in,’ ‘Silo’ and ‘Hazard,’ as well as a single zombie map called ‘Shangri-La.’
To celebrate the pack’s release, Activision and Treyarch will additionally host a Double XP Weekend for Black Ops starting on July 1st.
[Update] Reports are coming in thick and fast regarding the availability of the Annihilation map pack around the world, so it shouldn’t be too long before you’re able to grab it for yourself. [End of Update]
