[Update] Added details of the South African Rugby Union license deal. [End of Update]
With the announcement that 505 Games and HB Studios have netted the rights to use the French Rugby Federation and its paraphernalia (including official kit, emblems and player likenesses) in the upcoming Rugby World Cup 2011, two new screenshots have been released to show French rugby players in action in the game.
But… what we here in South Africa are much more interested in are sightings of the green and gold Springbok jersey in the new screens:
Rugby World Cup 2011 is due for release on August 26th on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 - catch more screenshots and extra information on the game via El33tonline’s previous coverage.
[Update]
Details have since been announced regarding an exclusive partnership with the South African Rugby Union (SARU), which grants 505 Games and HB Studios the right to use the official team kit, emblem and “many” player likenesses of the South African world cup team.
Manager of the South African Rugby Union’s national teams, Andy Marinos, commented on the partnership:
“We’re delighted to be a part of giving Springbok supporters the opportunity to win the Webb Ellis Cup over and over again.
“HB Studios have gone to great lengths to make this game as authentic as possible allowing Springbok supporters to relive the excitement of the Rugby World Cup before, during and long after the Webb-Ellis Trophy has been won.”

Comments:
i'm really looking forward to testing out the gameplay in this title - rugby should lend itself to some great moments. i don't think we should expect too much in the way of player likenesses (ala fifa 12) judging from these screenshots, but this is understandable considering it's a non ea or 2k developer.
