Not content to let THQ, Microsoft and Sony steal the show at E3 2011 over the week of June 6th, Ubisoft came out swinging with some very strong announcements and impressive demonstrations of the publisher’s upcoming games.
These announcements included the reveal of new Far Cry and Brothers in Arms games, plus further looks at titles such as Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Rayman Origins and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
The announcement of Far Cry 3 at E3 with beautiful screenshots and a gameplay video was certainly welcome, and you’ll this time take on the role of Jason Brody, a man who happens to be stranded on a tropical island – much like the original Far Cry games.
Like Far Cry 2, however, you’ll have great freedom in deciding your own fate, and your actions will determine how the story progresses, and who your friends and enemies are.
Rayman Origins also enjoyed a great showing at E3 and we got to see a lot more of this dazzling 2D action platform game, currently in the works under the guidance of game development legend Michel Ancel.
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Ubisoft’s sure-fire blockbuster of 2011, was revealed in great detail at E3, too, and the publisher released brand new screenshots, gameplay videos and a trailer for the stealth action game, while also announcing a release date!
After a few underwhelming reveals at past game events over the last year, Ubisoft has finally taken the wraps off of its latest iteration of not only the Ghost Recon franchise, but the latest iteration of that iteration!
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has been in development for some time now and was scheduled to release at the end of 2010, but the title was taken back to the drawing board and is now looking like a contender for the tactical shooter crown.
Get your latest look at Ghost Recon: Future Soldier with brand new screenshots and videos.
Other than Far Cry 3, one of the biggest announcements of E3 2011 (and certainly one of the most controversial) was the new entry to Gearbox Software’s Brothers in Arms series. Instead of the respect and reverence that previous Brothers in Arms games paid to the events of World War II, the fourth game in the franchise has taken a… different approach.
Titled Brothers in Arms Furious 4, the game follows the exploits of a group of four soldiers who have banded together to hunt and kill Nazis in the most gruesome ways possible. You can see the new first-person shooter with the first screenshots and a CG trailer.
Luckily for us, most of these games from Ubisoft will release over the next year, although no solid release windows are available for Far Cry 3 or Brothers in Arms Furious 4. A good bet would be mid- to late 2012.
Look forward to them!
