Rockstar Games reveals new DLC details for LA Noire

Rockstar Games has just revealed plans for new downloadable content for its popular crime thriller, LA Noire. We say popular because the game just finished top of the UK Software Charts yet again this week, and because we here at El33tonline enjoyed it too of course (read our review here).

According to the publisher, several standalone cases, collectibles and challenges will be available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE in the coming months. Founder of Rockstar Games, Sam Houser, commented: “With its blend of real crime influences and noir atmosphere, L.A. Noire contains boundless potential for new stories and new cases. The four new cases are strong standalone stories that sit perfectly alongside the main game.”

Players will be able to purchase the LA Noire Rockstar Pass from today in both North America and Europe. This is a new way to pre-order DLC and will give players access to all seven paid DLC. The Rockstar Pass will cost $10 on the PlayStation Network and 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE, offering a 50% discount on purchasing the DLC individually.

Once you’ve purchased the Rockstar Pass, you’ll be able to download all the announced DLC for free as soon as it becomes available. This will give you four unique cases, two detective suits and a collectible challenge, along with Achievements and Trophies in each of the four cases.

The seven pre-order DLC options are available to purchase from Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network today. The Badge Pursuit Challenge and the Sharpshooter/Broderick detective suits will cost $2/160 MS Points and $1/80 MS Points respectively. Meanwhile ‘The Naked City’ Vice case and ‘A Slip of the Tongue’ Traffic case will also become available today, priced at $4/320 MS Points each.

Two new cases, the ‘Nicholson Electroplating’ Arson case and the ‘Reefer Madness’ Vice case will also be available to download later this summer, on the 21st of June and 12th of July respectively for $4/320 MS Points each. These two cases will “provide unique experiences for players independent of the game’s primary storyline” and are “inspired both by famous noir fiction and real-life crimes taken straight from the headlines.”

Of course you’ll also be able to purchase all of the DLC through the LA Noire Rockstar Pass, priced at $12/960 MS Points after the limited discount period, which represents a 40% discount off the individual DLC pricing.

Last but not least Rockstar Games revealed that if you’re a member of the Rockstar Social Club you’ll also receive a free download of the Chicago Lightning Detective Suit. You’ll also be able to unlock the Chicago Piano machine gun for free. You can sign up for the Social Club for free over here if you like.

Aw yeah, more cases to solve!

I quite like the idea of this Rockstar Pass initiative - would have been nice for Red Dead Redemption! ;)
