Last week we reported that Uncharted NGP (working title) would be set between Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which was based on a claim that surfaced during a recent GameBlog.fr interview with Naughty Dog co-president Christophe Balestra.
Sony has since corrected Balestra’s statement.
According to SCE, Uncharted NGP “is an all-new story set before Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.” The publisher also states that new details about the game will be released on 2 June.
Hopefully the game will get a proper title at this point, and we will be given a glimpse of some of the characters who will feature significantly in the story. The only character revealed so far is the hero himself (i.e. Nathan Drake) so it will be very interesting to see if Victor Sullivan makes an appearance and if there are any other familiar faces to be found in the game.
The upcoming Uncharted 3 is also a prequel to Drake’s Fortune, so it will be fascinating to see how the two new games in the series tie in with each other (if at all).
You can expect plenty of NGP news here at El33tonline over the next few weeks, and the portable iteration of Uncharted should be one of the highlights in that carefully presented package.
