The past five days have been momentous for both Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) and Rockstar Games – one company brought a gigantic service network back to life, while the other released a spectacular, seven-years-in-the-making action adventure title.
Little did they know, however, that their triumphs would be connected to (and intertwined with) the tribulations of “a very small number” of PlayStation 3 owners, and the companies have jointly announced that neither the latest system update for the console, nor LA Noire itself, are the roots of reported overheating problems.
From the statement released by SCE and Rockstar:
“We have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3s overheating or shutting down while playing L.A. Noire. At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat.
“We are both committed to working hard to find solutions to this and any issues that may arise. If you are experiencing any issues with L.A. Noire or your PS3 hardware, please contact technical support using any of the means provided below:”

Comments:
I haven't had any overheating issues. However, I did have sound issues. The sound effects and music were fine but the dialog was either muffled or muted completely. I finally got hold of Rockstar support and they were able to help me resolve the problem by going into the "Audio Output Settings" and making a few minor changes. The situation kind of put a sour taste in my mouth though and I haven't really played the game much. I'll hit it hard this weekend.
Awesome, great news that Rockstar was able to help.
