The much-rumoured Kollection of past Mortal Kombat arcade Klassics has just been formally Konfirmed, detailed and priced, and the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will be heading to Xbox LIVE Arcade, the PlayStation Network and the PC as a downloadable title in “late summer 2011.”
The Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will Kontain “arcade-perfect” ports of the original versions of Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 to form the package.
Kreative Director at NetherRealm Studios (Kurrent Mortal Kombat stewards), Ed Boon said of the Kollection:
“We are very excited to finally have the first three Mortal Kombat games available in one download package for long-time and new fans to play. With the release of our 2011 Mortal Kombat, and its return to 2D game play, players have been asking for these [K]lassic titles and we are happy to deliver them.”
This package has been entrusted to developer Other Ocean, and offers fans “the chance to play through the games in their original arcade state and rediscover all their favorite characters, fatalities and environments as well as relive some of the franchise’s most memorable secrets.”
Online play, leaderboards, Achievements and Trophies are also promised for the Kollection.
The Mortal Kombat Kollection will be available for 800 MS Points via Xbox LIVE Marketplace on Xbox 360, and $9.99 via the PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3, or as the press release says “…to put it in arcade terms - 40 quarters ($10).”
