Fancy joining us for a bit of speculation and rumour milling? Great stuff, because we’re about to have a look at some unconfirmed information regarding the (unannounced) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Or should we say, Call of Duty: Elite? Let’s collect and dissect this data in the latest edition of H33rsay!
So let’s talk about when we might get our first official dollops of information on the next game in the Call of Duty franchise. Speculation currently doing the rounds points to a May 23rd date, as NowGamer reports that members of the games press have been receiving invites to a pre-E3 event in the UK on that date.
Would Activision hold a reveal event for its biggest franchise in the UK, or closer to home in Los Angeles? Or is this simply another in a long line of pre-E3 publisher events that have been taking place recently?
Circle the calendar, Call of Duty fans!
Additionally, a few pieces of artwork have emerged for two Call of Duty titles, namely Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and something called Call of Duty: Elite.
While it would make sense for the next game from Infinity Ward to be titled ‘Modern Warfare 3,’ the ‘Elite’ name is interesting as this could be the title of Activision’s upcoming microtransaction-based Call of Duty game. Or it could be the final name for the online backend said to power future Call of Duty games, providing services to enhance the series’ online features, while providing parity across players’ progress in the games.
Last of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 rumours (but not least), are a couple reveals on the kinds of content we may be able to expect in the game, including the latest multiplayer Perks, maps and guns.
According to a report on the gbswag blog, an anonymous source (who was/is involved in Modern Warfare 3 alpha testing) spoke about a few Perks included in the multiplayer portion of the game, outing character bonuses called Revelations, Pointblank (which makes your reticule smaller for greater accuracy), Lifeline and Slight of Hand.
Weapons coming to MW3 include the Colt 45, Pacer 56 and Vector (the writer of the report points out that the Pacer 56 doesn’t exist, to which the source replied it was a new weapon in development). What about maps? The secret source said that a map called ‘Detour’ was available during testing (similar to ‘Hotel’ in Black Ops), and described the multiplayer of MW3 as “faster” than Modern Warfare 2, with a cover system in place, too.
Is any of this information real? Is it all complete rubbish? Are we being duped as we absorb these details?
Or… is it all true?
H33rsay is El33tonline’s (regular) round-up of game industry rumours and speculation where we have looks at unconfirmed and unannounced pieces of news emerging from anonymous tipsters, information leaks and generally dubious sources. It may not all be true, but it’s still fun to talk about!
