It’s that glorious time of the week once again when we can sit back, relax and get some more gaming time in. So apart from wishing you all a great weekend, here’s a sneak peek into what the El33tonline team is looking forward to playing this weekend:
Oliver
“Everybody’s working for the weekend!”
Truer words have never been belted, and this week we’ve been cramming new reviews, previews and news onto El33tonline to get you ready for the weekend. When conversations with your friends make the natural turn to games, who’s going to look like a fool when they don’t know that there’s a new Spider-Man game in the works, or that a new Resident Evil game has been officially announced?
Not you, because you read El33tonline.com… right?
We’ve also stuffed the site with new competitions, so do have a look won’t you?
As for me, I’m going to find a hole to crawl into and play more Crysis 2 multiplayer than my soul can handle, while putting the PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter through its paces in Killzone 3 and the SOCOM online beta. Oh, and there’s also this online hunting game called theHunter by Avalanche Studios (Just Cause) that I’ll be investigating (I’ve always been intrigued by why hunting games are so appealing) and I guess I’ll also be keeping an eye on this weekend’s sporting activities (go India and Sri Lanka… and the Sharks!).
It’s going to be ‘chock ‘o block,’ as they say. Have a great weekend everybody!”
Oltman
“I love the weekends…all that free time to do chores around the house! And when the car is washed and the lawn is mowed, then its time to buckle up and play some games…whoopee…
Here yee! Here yee! Thou shalt not interrupt thine monarch whilst conducting thy business inst thou Sims Medieval. Or something. Getting used to the new Sims idea will take time. It’s still fun!
Bryan and I will also be getting some long overdue Borderlands time in. We are pretty highly levelled and its time to make some serious progress against the skags. Remind me why I am playing as the girl again? [Ed: Oi, what’s wrong with playing as the girl?]
I am also waiting patiently in line for Homefront and Crysis 2. I might write about it here for the next few weeks though!”
Tom
“I’ve been playing nothing but Yakuza 4 of late, but sadly all good things must come to an end and so this weekend I’ll be changing tune and dusting off my tennis racket to get to grips with Top Spin 4. From what I’ve played of the game so far, matches take a fair while and there’s not much in the way of aural accompaniment to the title’s brilliantly realised courts, crowds and players.
To combat this ‘emptiness of the ear drums’ I’ll be putting some music on my flash drive and hoping to goodness that the game supports custom soundtracks. I’m feeling in the mood for some Snow Patrol as things stand, so their emotive heart-wrenchers will definitely sit atop my playlist for the moment. Although…perhaps a bit of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Interpol will help crank up the tempo and provide me with the inspiration I need to serve an ace to avoid getting knocked out in the final stages of the French Open.
What are you guys getting up to this weekend?”
Pete
“I have been enjoying the 3DS much more than expected. None of the launch games really appealed to me because I tend to prefer puzzle games, 2D platformers and RPGs on my handhelds, but Ridge Racer and Pilotwings Resort have me highly entertained. It helps that I also have Pokemon Black version to play when I tire of driving or racing. The 3D aspect is more wonderful (yes, wonderful, in the sense that it is full of wonder) than I thought it would be, and I’ve been surprised by all the software Nintendo have put on the device and the great menu system.
Tomorrow I’m off to Cape Town for a week but I’ll definitely be taking my 3DS with me!”
Bryan
“The weekends seem to come as quickly as they go for me nowadays, and I don’t know if that’s old-age setting in or the pressures of this new thing called fatherhood. All I know is it’s a challenge to make some alone time just for daddy, but when I do squeeze a few minutes out this weekend I’ll be finalising my sentiments on the revamped XBLA Lode Runner and packing in a meager three hours of Borderlands with Oltman before the Sharks demolish the Stormers (by 15 :)).
An aside: when the Christmas Elves took my Xbox I lost all my savegames (including Borderlands :() so we have to start over. Suprisingly my progress with Call of Duty: MOdern Warfare 2 seems to have been stored online so I haven’t had to start that over! That’s kinda cool and I hope more developers follow that example and backup game saves online. Nothing to it with Borderlands though, it’s an awesome game anyway and I’m fine to start that one over if I must :)”
Lisa
It’s been another busy week at El33t Towers so I’m looking forward to kicking back and relaxing with some awesome games in my line-up. If anyone’s keen to join me for some SingStar: Afrikaans Treffers, I’ll be belting out a few tunes from Kurt Darren and Jack Parow – think I should send the neighbours some earplugs? I’ll also be continuing to kick some serious Droid butt in Lego Star Wars 3D for the 3DS which is amazingly fun, and hope to get the chance to dabble with the console version too.
Then there’ll be some time spent with de Blob 2, not to mention throwing a stick for my new puppy in Nintendogs 3D, and also getting back into the action with my ‘Cloak enabled’ in Crysis 2 and possibly finally get the chance to fire up Homefront as well.
Busy. Little. Bee.
Have a great one everyone!”
Wayne
“When you’re down and out there’s nothing like your trusted friend the Nintendo DS. This awesome device can be played from the confines of one’s bed, when you’re too sick to even contemplate making it all the way to the couch to play one of your favourite console games. Luckily I have Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars for the 3DS to keep me company during these dark days.”
