After confirming that the title was in development during the company’s most recent financial earnings report, THQ has officially announced the existence of Saints Row 3, now going by the moniker ‘Saints Row: The Third.’
Posh.
Currently in development at series steward and originator Volition, Saints Row: The Third is said to “take open-world action over the top and then some” when it’s released during the holiday season this year on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, and we’ll start getting our first extended glimpses of the game when the April issue of Game Informer hits the stands.
Executive Vice President of Core Games at THQ, Danny Bilson, enthused:
“Saints Row: The Third puts you on top of the world, right at the beginning of the game, with all the perks that go along with being the head of an elite criminal organization.”
“There’s no delivering pizza, no shuttling family members about in a long series of taxi missions,” Bilson continued. “Instead, you take all the power of the Third Street Saints and you take the world by storm.”
Here’s a little officially released blurb about Saints Row: The Third to tide you over until more concrete information makes its way into the channels:
“Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you. The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed.
“The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to a new city, playing out the most outlandish gameplay scenarios ever seen. Strap it on.”
You can also pop over to the official website for Saints Row: The Third, but there’s currently nothing much going on there.
