This week, Chart Track’s UK Software sales listing is invaded by no less than nine titles for the Nintendo 3DS, as seven of those games make it into the Top Twenty, but which multiplatform game managed to rise above the rest and hit No. 1 on the chart?
Crysis 2.
EA and Crytek’s massive sci-fi first-person shooter for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC was the top selling title in the UK this past week, ahead of LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars at No. 2 (which released on seven platforms, including the 3DS).
According to Chart Track, Crysis 2 is EA’s biggest launch of the year in the UK, and sales were split very unevenly between the release platforms - 57% of Crysis 2 sales were recorded on the Xbox 360, while PlayStation 3 and PC accounted for 29% and 14% respectively.
Last week’s No. 1, Homefront, slips down to No. 3 behind these two debut entries, but another new title to the chart, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, arrives at No. 4. Pokemon White steps down two places to No. 5 as another new entry, Pilotwings Resort, appears at No. 6.
Like its sibling, Pokemon Black also shifts two places to No. 7, but the listing is interrupted again by new game The Sims: Medieval, debuts at No. 8. Rayman 3D (another new entry) nestles in at No. 9, and FIFA 11 clings onto No. 10 after being shoved down by two places from No. 8.
