We’re not even going to say it.
2K Games has announced that Gearbox Software’s Duke Nukem Forever has been delayed into June, and past its initial (‘final’) release date of May 2nd in North America, and May 6th in Europe, the UK and South Africa.
The announcement was made in a ‘hilarious’ video featuring Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford (included below). So when is Duke Nukem Forever scheduled for release now?
The game will now release on June 10th worldwide, and then June 14th in North America. Watch the delay announcement video below:
A very special message from Gearbox Software - International Edition
No, it’s not April 1st.
President of 2K, Christoph Hartmann said in a statement:
“We’re committed to deliver a laugh-out-loud, politically incorrect experience that people will talk about for years to come. We thank Duke’s fans for their continued patience - I promise this won’t take another 15 years.”
In addition to the above video announcement, Randy Pitchford offered his apologies:
“I’m very sorry for the added delay. We’ve all been working extremely hard and are very eager to deliver the game to you. I’ve been thinking of these lyrics from the great country song, ‘He’s The Duke’ - ‘He told us if we waited we could Come Get Some, but I never knew Forever was going to be so long.’ If you’re like me, June cannot come quickly enough.”

i can't believe it! i think they just lost a few sales because this is now getting beyond ridiculous...o_O
I think you're right, but the initial general consensus is that this is a good thing and fans have (so far) even been supportive of the idea to delay Duke for another month.
Randy Pitchford has gone on to say that the delay is 'for the fans' so that Gearbox doesn't release a sub-standard game after 12/13 years of waiting.
Media spin maybe, but if the team is actually able to do any valuable work in the new timespan, then I'm for it as well.
i'd love to know what tweaks they're planning to do during that extra month. the ESRB rating is already set so i doubt they'll add anything new. better to tweak it before than patch it later i reckon! but another delay - oh man...
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.........ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha....Wait wait wait.....ha ha ha ha ha...I don't know what to say...I figured Duke would have been out right after PREY but never happened. I just hope all these delays don't effect the games critic score. I mean I hope people rate it on the actual game not the development time.,,
If reviewers let the development time affect their final score, then they shouldn't be reviewing the game. ;)
