[Update] I’ve managed to grab a ghostly image from the countdown site of a soldier of some description, although I can’t quite make out who it could be. Makarov himself? Check it out below. [End of Update]
A new countdown clock website has just been discovered that’s currently ticking down to… something happening in just under five days.
It just so happens that the Game Developers Conference kicks off in just under five days, too.
The website domain name, findmakarov.com (Find Makarov), gives us a bit of a clue as to the purpose of the site and may allude to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 antagonist Vladimir Makarov. Further cluing us in is the presentation style of the website – very reminiscent of Modern Warfare 2. A ‘WhoIs’ search on the domain doesn’t turn up any Activision Publishing and/or Activision Blizzard related information - it seems like the domain has been protected.
Will we see the first reveal of the next Call of Duty game at Game Developers Conference next week? Perhaps Modern Warfare 3? Head on over to the mysterious countdown site and rapidly go insane to the click of the clock.
[Update]
Oh, and here’s that ‘ghostly’ image that appears just as the countdown clock starts up (preceded by a voice, perhaps the beginning of a sentence that will continue to play over the next five days?):
