“Yes, Danger Close is currently working on the next Medal of Honor.”
!
“Just recently, EA announced that the reboot of Medal of Honor was a big success with over 5 million copies sold,” wrote Medal of Honor executive producer, Greg Goodrich on the official Medal of Honor blog.
“We wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for supporting us, our new studio and our storied franchise. We would especially like to thank all of the long time Medal of Honor fans out there who have stuck with us over the years.”
According to Goodrich, the “new studio” responsible for rebooting the Medal of Honor franchise last October, Danger Close, has been listening to fan feedback and the team is “very excited to be marching forward on the next title.”
Goodrich didn’t let on whether or not this new Medal of Honor game would become available this year or next, but judging by EA’s determined and competitive approach to having at least one of its shooters crowned the king in its genre (and thus snatch that title away from Call of Duty) we can probably bet on a new game from Danger Close late this year, or early in 2012.
El33tonline thought 2010’s Medal of Honor was pretty dang good, with an extremely solid offering in both singleplayer and multiplayer. Any improvements on this title would catapult the series into ‘serious contender’ territory as far as crown-stealing goes.
But let’s not forget about EA’s other big shooter this year, Battlefield 3.
On the back of this news members of El33tonline touched on the issue of annualised blockbuster game franchises, including Medal of Honor, in our latest podcast - listen to that over here .
“It’s going to be a fun ride for the Medal of Honor franchise,” says Goodrich as he signs off on his blog post. “We are happy to have you aboard.”
