In a recent earnings call, Ubisoft revealed that the most recent entry to the incredibly successful Assassin’s Creed franchise, Brotherhood, has managed to rack up worldwide sales approaching seven million copies since its release in November 2010, while the next iteration of the franchise is set to be announced in less than three month’s time.
For the quarter ending December 31st 2010 Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood sold over 6.5 million units across Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms, and according to Ubisoft is performing better, revenue-wise, than Assassin’s Creed II in 2009. Sales of Brotherhood, however, will be roughly the same as that game by the end of the publisher’s fiscal year, says the publisher.
Confirmed during the call was news that a new home console Assassin’s Creed game would be released in fiscal year 2012, which ends in March 2012. An official announcement of this title will be made in May this year. Although it’s possibly that the title could release at the beginning of 2012, Ubisoft would probably want to stick to its successful November release window.
