Ugh.
The terrible header aside, it’s good news for Atari and Test Drive Unlimited 2 this week as Eden Game’s highly ambitious open-world racing game has claimed No. 1 on Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing for the past week, usurping previous crown holder Dead Space 2 in the process.
68% of Test Drive Unlimited 2’s sales were recorded on Xbox 360, 28% on PlayStation 3, and a mere 4% on PC. Chart Track says that Unlimited 2 is “by far the biggest launch in the franchise, outselling the launch of the previous title by more than double.”
Hopefully the game’s quality is also better by double.
As mentioned, Dead Space 2 (sales down 51%) has to be content with No. 2 this week, as FIFA 11 (sales down 47%) follows in hot pursuit at No. 3 after stepping down one place, too. Call of Duty: Black Ops (sales down 14%) is a non-mover at No. 4 this week, as Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (sales down 26%) leapfrogs that game down to No. 5.
Mario VS Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem (sales up 72%) jumps up to No. 6 from No. 11 last week while Just Dance 2 (sales down 14th) slips down one place to No. 7. Mario Sports Mix (sales up 47%) takes a few steps up to No. 8 from No. 12, Grand Theft Auto: Complete Edition (sales up 116% on retail promotions) zooms up to No. 9 from No. 24, and LittleBigPlanet 2 (sales down 36%) is shoved to the edge of the Top Ten at No. 10, down from No. 5 last week.
