Last week I posted an article highlighting the fact that four free Dark Souls dynamic themes were available on the Japanese PlayStation Store. Today five more dynamic themes have been added to the Store and are now available to download along with last week’s offerings.
Each of the nine themes corresponds to a Covenant in Dark Souls. Today’s batch represents the following Covenants: Path of the Dragon, Gravelord Servant, Forest Hunter, Darkmoon Blade and Chaos Servant. The dynamic themes all feature environments which will be instantly familiar to players who have thoroughly explored Dark Souls’ ingeniously-designed world.
Follow the steps below to access all nine dynamic themes on the Japanese PlayStation Store:
- locate the “What’s New” section in the upper right quadrant of the Store
- scroll down to content published on 12/21
- click on the 17th entry in this sub-section
Let us know what you think of the themes in the comments section below. I personally think From Software is being very generous giving away nine awesome dynamic themes for free when they could have easily gotten away with charging ¥250 for each one.

and what about Xbox users, does anyone know where i can get a hold of some free themes? SA Account
very few free themes on xbox that i know of. just advertisements for movies, cold drinks and hygiene products on the north american marketplace... have you tried browsing the theme section of the SA marketplace?
Yhea i have but you have to pay for all of them and i am really not keen on paying for a theme
I want free themes too. I just got the Uncharted 3 Dynamic theme for my PS3. I now have Uncharted 1 & 2....so I'll be starting to game on the PS3.....(Just got shivers saying that, Just kidding.) Just my hands might not survive.
How much are these themes on Xbox Live? I mean isn't Microsoft making enough moola already??
I guess it's time to sign up for a Japanese account. That's theme looks awesome. Thanks for the update!
There is a few free themes on Sa Xboxlive marketplace like Homefront and Forza 4 but most you can get on the US or UK marketplace and some free arcade games.
@Tom - Help me out here bro. I created a Japanese account and downloaded all the themes but I was hoping one of them would include the screenshot of the dragon pictured above. Did I miss something? If not I feel a little...mislead and disappointed :(
hey bearded_warrior! sorry about that - the dragon above is called 'seath the scaleless' and is one of the many [awesome] bosses in the game - he's not related to a covenant in any way. i couldn't find any decent images of the dynamic themes or covenants so i went with this image instead. sorry if it mislead you! maybe you should try to find a HD image of seath the scaleless and set it as your ps3 wallpaper...? are you planning on picking up the game sometime?
here's a link for seath the scaleless HD wallpaper: http://www.superbwallpapers.com/games/dark-souls-8100/
Thx Tom, that site has some awesome wallpapers. I'm so going to get some nice wallpapers for my PC and my PS3 and my Tablet.
@Tom - Thanks man. All is forgiven. I'll check that link out when I get home (it's blocked here at work).
