Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is one of the most anticipated titles coming to 3DS next year, and for good reason too. The third game in the Metal Gear Solid series is considered by many to be the best, featuring innovative gameplay mechanics (such as camouflage) and a compelling storyline set during the Cold War.
The 3DS version of Metal Gear Solid 3 includes a number of features which were absent in the PlayStation 2 original. A recent retail listing from Japan mentions two new gameplay options which were present in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - the ability to walk while crouching and a FPS mode. You can also switch to an over-the-shoulder camera view (similar to Resident Evil 4) if you balk at the idea of playing a Metal Gear Solid game as a first-person shooter.
Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D will be compatible with the Circle Pad Pro attachment for 3DS, and is the only game other than Resident Evil: Revelations to use a 4GB cartridge on Nintendo’s handheld (the standard cart size is 2GB).
The game will be released in the first half of next year, with Japan getting it on March 8th and Western territories having to wait a bit longer to receive the latest (and possibly greatest) Metal Gear Solid remake.
