The latest entry to the high octane series of Need For Speed arcade racers was unleashed around the world just last month and players have hailed the game’s use of Autolog to once again allow us to compare and beat our friends’ race times, while the intense action and hugely impressive visuals have also drawn high praise.
We’re of course talking about Need For Speed: The Run, an out-of-control racer that we here at El33tonline are particularly fond of, and now thanks to the release of the latest title update, we can become even more fond of EA’s awesome game.
Title update 1.3 for Need For Speed: The Run is currently rolling out around the world for PlayStation 3 gamers, but Xbox 360 owners will soon be able to benefit from the patch’s improvements, too. A PC patch is also in the works, but we’ll have to keep an eye out for an announcement on its release.
Here is a short list of the updates for Need For Speed: The Run:
- Improvements to reset behavior in Singleplayer:
- When players go off track, they will be reset back onto the track (similar to the reset behavior in online multiplayer races) instead of at the last checkpoint. Crashes will still result in a reset to the last checkpoint.
- We’ve modified the reset behavior for a number of tracks in The Run where resets seemed too close to the main race route. This should reduce some frustration for players where they’ve suddenly been reset by just barely going off course.
- Multiplayer – reduce the severity of racer to racer collisions in multiplayer races and jarring reactions by the game camera.
- Multiplayer - Fix to address a connectivity issues sometimes seen when attempting to join multiplayer sessions on PS3
- Multiplayer – Fix for load and connectivity issues being experienced on PS3.
- Autolog – fix an issue where the Autolog friends list would sometimes appear empty and Speedwalls would display ‘Your Friend’ instead of the proper friends name.
Say, have you had the pleasure of reading Lisa’s awesome review of Need For Speed: The Run? I only recently managed to go back and indulge in some exciting reading, so I highly recommend it!

Wow, kudos to EA for addressing the major concerns voiced by the online community. The 'reset to track' and load times in particular will make the game a lot more enjoyable to play. This makes it an even easier decision to pick up The Run if you don't already own it - see you on the road!
Glad to see developers actually listen to the gamers. I really want this game and wish someone could buy me this game. the demo was awesome. I will have this game soon. Happy they fixed the load times of the game. the demo you waited for ages.
