Activision has today announced that after the publisher’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 broke entertainment sales records following release by generating $400 million on day one of availability, the shooter has managed to rack up a whopping $1 billion in revenue in just 16 days.
The movie phenomenon, Avatar, was able to reach the same milestone in 17 days, which means that Modern Warfare 3 has broken yet another entertainment sales record. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick enthused:
“Engagement of our Call of Duty audience continues to rise around the world. Call of Duty as an entertainment franchise has made an indelible mark on popular culture and its broad and continued success is further validation that audiences increasingly value interactive experiences over passive experiences.”
