The latest issue of Japanese magazine Dengeki PlayStation has plenty of interesting titbits about Final Fantasy XIII-2. The most significant of these is that the game will come with an easy mode for newcomers to the series, or people who simply couldn’t be bothered to spend extra hours on level grinding.
Easy mode was previously included in Final Fantasy XIII International Edition Ultimate Hits (exclusive to Japan) and also added to the standard, Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIII via a patch.
Dengeki PlayStation claims that the boss battles in Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be more challenging that those found in its predecessor, and that monsters which join your party can be renamed and equipped with a slew of accessories including tails and sunglasses.
You can expect a deluge of new media for the game to drop as we near its December 15th Japanese launch. We’ll be able to play Final Fantasy XIII-2 for ourselves when it releases on January 31st in the US and February 3rd in PAL territories for Xbox 360 and PS3.

I've only been a big fan of the Final Fantasy movies and the art work, never actually played one. The games look really good. The visuals are jaw dropping good. This sounds like a good idea, the easy mode will help guys like me that never played the game to have a fun time playing it.
o and is that a cactus in the screenshot or is it just me losing my mind???
'cactuar' is a reoccurring enemy in the final fantasy series(-:
i was a fan of the series back on the PS1 :)
I've also never played one, I wanted to play FF XIII until I read the awful reviews on it. I love the art style though, it's the main thing that attracts me to the games.
the character design is by tetsuya nomura - the guy behind kingdom hearts, final fantasy vii: advent children, parasite eve etc. he's worked on every final fantasy game from vii onwards excluding ix and xii. the man's a genius and one of the most talented artists in video gaming!
Achtung!Baby the idiots that reviewed FFXIII need to go back to playing their mindless generic FPS games. FFXIII was a great game.
And yea, that's a Cactuar/Saboten. One day I want to buy a plushie of one :D They are AWESOME!
Oh and back on topic, LOL @ Easy Mode .___. Seriously ? XD I found FFXIII to be a lot easier than previous FF games.
@L1ghtn1ng i've played and finished every main final fantasy game from vii to xiii (excluding xi and including crisis core) and also found xiii to be a bit of a disappointment. it's very linear compared to previous final fantasy games and there are no towns to explore. it looks like the sequel is addressing these issues though, which i'm grateful for. if you played ffvii when it came out in 1997 and xiii when it was released, you'd probably find vii felt far more revolutionary and provided more jaw-dropping moments where you thought "wow - this is a brilliant game!"...
