It’s very easy to make a game frightening by intelligently placing cheap scares along the way to get a few jumps out of players, but it’s a lot more difficult to flood an experience with extreme tension and horror to add impact to those cheap scares.
Things like ambient sounds, moody lighting and atmospheric environments all contribute to the tension of a game, which ultimately lead to moments of catharsis to allow you to let off some steam and release that tension… before starting all over again.
No wonder gamers are such a twitchy lot!
These latest screenshots for Aliens: Colonial Marines from Gearbox and SEGA ably demonstrate both aspects of good horror - the tension and the release - and we’re hoping the developers are able to keep the tension going while allowing us to creep through the corridors and shoot the xenomorphs of one of our favourite entertainment properties.

CO-OP with aliens and predators is going to be insane, this game will keep your adrenaline pumping constantly.....i seriously cant wait, and the still look seriously good
This isn't a Predator's game. :/ Fail. But as a nerd, all I can say is that I hope this game doesn't bomb. AvP was such a let-down and that's why I never bought it. If they mess this up, THERE SHALL BE FURY DEALT OUT! ENRAGED FANBOOOOY!!!!!!
This game looks really good, I think the fear factor will return to what is known as the ALIENS..... the game play is going to be really good. and with them adding COOP is a bonus. can't wait to see more on this.
