Rainbow 6 Patriots officially announced, arrives in 2013

Ubisoft has formally announced Rainbow 6 Patriots, the next chapter in the publisher’s fan-favourite series of tactical shooters.

Due out in 2013 across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms, Rainbow 6 Patriots will aim to innovate in the areas of co-operative and multiplayer gameplay while providing a “gripping new storyline” that “captures the reality of modern-day terrorism.”

Currently in development at Ubisoft Montreal, with support from Ubisoft Toronto and original Rainbow Six developer Ubisoft Red Storm, Rainbow 6 Patriots is set to include what Ubisoft calls a “dynamic” singleplayer experience as the story of the game will be told by various characters, each of whom will provide a different piece of the puzzle as you experience the narrative from varying perspectives.

The story of the game revolves around a new terrorist threat known as the ‘True Patriots,’ a well trained and organised group of revolutionaries that has made it its goal to remove the American government and “reclaim” the country as its own.

As a Rainbow operative, players will face “critical scenarios that will require them to make tough ethical decisions in order to stop this new breed of terrorists.”

Creative director at Ubisoft, David Sears, said of Rainbow 6 Patriots:

“Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6. In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction.

“This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.”

In addition to the “immersive” singleplayer storyline, Rainbow 6 Patriots is said to introduce a wide assortment of new, innovative co-operative and multiplayer experiences, and players will be rewarded for working as a team, while mastering the game’s communication and tactics execution features.

“Success will come from a mix of split-second decision making and working to coordinate attacks against the enemy,” says Ubisoft.

Very intense.

The December issue of Game Informer will reveal more about Rainbow 6 Patriots, so look for that on shelves (where applicable) soon.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier is going to be really awesome. I can't wait to try out weapon customisation with Kinect. I think the CO-OP in these gaems are so well done. its like they built the co-op and then altered it to fit the story in.

You do realize that this is an effort to undermine true patriotism. Buy this if you want but I caution you to consider what you are supporting. What you believe determines how you behave. These people clearly believe that socialism and marxism are the true and proper way to control the masses. Think this is just a rant? Cool, knock yourself out... Please consider carefully what you support. I like the Rainbow six games from the past but I believe that reclaiming America and restoring it to it's rightful role of a "Republic" and removing socialism is in the best interest of our kids. This game teaches people to do the exact opposite.
