In 2011, we’ve been treated to an overflowing bounty of fantastic games so time is short to go back and play older titles that friends have recommended - videogame backlogs are a depressing thing to behold.
Regardless, in this Question of the Day we still want to know:
Have you been recommended a game, but haven’t played it?
I’ve got a confession: For all the excited words I’ve ever spoken about Vigil’s breakout hit, Darksiders, I’ve never played the game - blame Lisa’s contagious enthusiasm.
For all of the games that have been released in recent years, Darksiders stands out to me as the one I really, really need to play. Not only does El33tonline’s Editor-in-Chief glow whenever the game is mentioned, the internet in general is in agreement that it’s an overall excellent title and well worth your time - I’ll need to get to it before Darksiders II next year!
What game has been recommended to you, but you’ve not yet got around to playing? What is it?

Comments:
There is so many games I need to play that people have recommended me. Uncharted, Resistance, Darksiders, Mass effect and the list goes on. I'll get to them all one day (I hope). I just wish i had the budget and the Time to play them ALL.
Skyrim.
Not interested at all in playing it. The length of the game puts me off immensely, I have way too much to play.
I'm glad you mentioned Darksiders Oliver, now I don't have to decide if I should rat you out or not...but I do recall another game that I have also recommended that you haven't played yet ;)
As for me, I'm also guilty in this department. I haven't played Dead Space 2 or Alan Wake yet, they're still sitting forlorn in my gaming draw, begging for me to take the time to test them out!
Oh yes, dozens of games. I have games people recommended to me which I've even bought, but haven't found time to play. Bioshock, Arkham Asylum, Oblivion, Skyrim, Dragon Age, MW2, Borderlands, there's probably more which I have forgotten, too.
I also have Dead Space 2 sitting and waiting for me to play. I have one massive Gaming backlog, that why I'll give Skyrim a miss for now, as i need to do some catch up this holiday.
im pretty selective when it comes to games but if i had to say, it would have to be Alan Wake and Uncharted and Resistance and thats only because i dont own a PS3
Me 2. Sometimes people recommend I play a game, but its a genre I am not interested in. Like call of duty and battlefield. I usually co-op that with my Dad (yes, my Dad still enjoys him games, one of the many bonding hobbies we have). Gears of war 1 is in my drawer. Begging some time. Other include darksiders, Mass effect, dead space, dragon age, portal2, bioshock 1&2. Many more, cant remember them all now. I just recently acquired a xbox, so alot of these I need to go buy.
Vanquish for me. I cant think of any others atm. Dark siders is a must play yo.
@POltjie - You really need to play Mass Effect 1+2
@DarkMomo Dude out of that whole list you have to play Portal 2. Its really awesome. I still need to finish the CO-OP side of that.
i normaly play the games i recommend lol :D
Uh-oh, you're right Lisa... there is another game I need to play! But it's sitting on a hard-drive in a PS3 in a repair shop at the moment ;(.
Darksiders first though. ;)
Wow, lots of classic games on these lists so far! All of the games mentioned so far need to be played (as some point, in some form or another, even to test them out).
I have often recommended a game that I haven't played myself. A lot of the time I watch the game being played. Or I know it's going to be a hit because I've seen reviews and trailers etc. (Not that that always means they will be great games lol)
Yeah. I remember in February of last year some guy around here gave Bayonetta a 5 star review. Still haven't played it except for the demo. And I still think the it's not a 5 star game, LOL! ;)
Dang! ;)
I stand by my 5 Star Bayonetta review, even after you questioned it the first time. Combat refinements, craziness and epic tests of skill - a fantastic game. Everybody should play Bayonetta. Well... almost everyone. ;)
Blast from the past, thanks Beardie ;)
I've never played Minesweeper although I hear it's excellent... ;)
I cannot recommend that game. Rather play Windows Tetris or something worthwhile... ;)
@Oliver - I had to bring back the beard. It's my online persona and I need to stick with it ;)
Off the subject, how do I change my profile pic? I don't see any option to do that but you clearly can some how.
Good, I like that nick! ;)
El33tonline uses Gravatars for profile pictures, so what you need to do is register on Gravatar.com with the same email address you used to register on El33tonline, upload your profile pic to Gravatar, and 'Hey Presto,' the pic will show up on El33tonline, too....
... in a few hours, anyway. Takes a while to propagate.
