Following an unofficial report yesterday regarding the potential day-one sales numbers for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Activision has formally released official sales figures for the publisher’s latest blockbuster first-person shooter, and they’re still mighty impressive.
According to Activision, Modern Warfare 3 managed to sell over 6.5 million units across North America and the UK during the game’s first day on sale, which makes it the biggest launch of an entertainment product in history.
This figure means that the game generated over $400 million in revenue, which is ahead of both Call of Duty: Black Ops (with $360 million in revenue and 5.6 million units sold) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (with $310 million in revenue and 4.7 million units sold).
A massive achievement, as Call of Duty once again stomps its authority not only on the videogame world, but the entertainment world as well.

Comments:
I knew the 9million number was really high. But I have to take my hat off for this series. Its just got the winning formula. Congrats to Activision.
CAll of Duty has never been a dissapointing game SP is solid its just the MP that never really got me, i prefer team based action
I agree, Would love for them to do a WW2 one again or a Sci-Fi one. COD Future Warfare.......
COD World at Wat is one of my favorites, it was the last of the series that actually allowed to you to do 4 player co-op without net access and the zombie maps are awesome black ops fell short on the zombie side
COD never fails
