Uncharted 3 sells nearly 4 million units on day one
In a bit of unexpected news today, Sony has announced that after releasing early last week, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3 went on to sell almost 4 million units on day one of availability!
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe says that 3.8 million gamers went out to buy the latest game in the series of cinematic action adventure games, and it’s on course to become “the biggest selling game in the trilogy.”
No doubt.

That's a good number of sales. Wish I was part of that number. But one day I'll own all 3 and enjoy them just like everyone else.
Very well deserved - the Uncharted series has never set the sales charts ablaze, so this is an amazing performance. Congratulations to the Dogs for finally cracking the chart!
Uncharted is by FAR console game of the year 2011 just a pity it launched in between the 2 biggest FPS. While im loving gears 3 on xbox uncharted is a SHOWPIECE game for PS3 owners
I just finished Uncharted 3 yesterday; it's mindblowing in places. The big action set pieces are beautifully choreographed. Now, when is Uncharted 4 due out?

The problem is i don't own any of the uncharted games. and I can't find someone to borrow me their copies till i have the budget to buy my own. starts crying some more waahhhhhhhh
i would love to be able to play these Uncharted titles, but i sadly do not own a PS3

Ask Santa for one then you just need to stump up the cash for the Uncharted series. They really are amazing titles.

I've heard rumour that the figure of nearly 4 million sales is not true; it's actually the total number shipped to retailers.
If that's true (that the number is only shipped and not sold), then that would be very naughty of Sony for trying to deceive us.
The press release clearly states "day one global sales of 3.8 million units," but doesn't specific if this number means sold to retailers or sold-through.
The word doing the rounds is that it is indeed sold-through (i.e. true sales), but we'll see if this is correct or not.

@Achtung!Baby - I like to collect games. even if i borrow a game i buy it later on. If i like a game I'll want it for my collection.
@katz - I'll start a new gaming budget and buy the missing PS3 games of my collection.

Hmm, very interesting. If it's a source at SCEA proper, then I would say that Sony has intentionally tried to pull a fast one, again (the same thing happened with sales numbers for the Move - sold-in and sold-through weren't distinguished).
Disappointing, to say the least. I was very excited to hear that Uncharted 3 had sold so well, but now I'm doubting it. Let's see if we can dig a little further and find out.
