In a report on VGChartz (i.e. not an official source), the site claims that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has managed to sell over nine million units on day one of sale, making it by far the best selling game in the series, as well as the biggest selling videogame and entertainment property ever.
VGChartz reports that 9.3 million units of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 were sold on day one, with Xbox 360 taking a 54% share of the sales and PlayStation 3 relegated to 42%. The remaining 4% was left to the PC and Wii versions of the game, which points to a lot of pirate activity for that beige-box edition.
This figure of 9.3 million is up 33% over day one sales for Call of Duty: Black Ops, the last game in the series, and 55% over the original Modern Warfare. All of this means that Modern Warfare 3 is on track to sell nearly 13 million units by the end of its first week on sale and a sure-fire hit for the holidays!

Keep in mind the recent sales number announcements for Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, Batman: Arkham City and FIFA 12, all of which fell well short of this supposed Modern Warfare 3 number.

I'm not so sure that number is correct. If it is then everyone has this game. and the thing is I don't have it, and know some people that also doesn't have it. Will wait for the Official release data. Maybe that number includes the number of pirated games so it looks better than everything else. (Just saying)
There are lots of Call of Duty fans around the world - nearly 30 million active players, a lot of whom would want to at least try the new iteration.
I'm not saying the figure is accurate, but if Uncharted 3 can sell 3.8 million on day one on a single console, Modern Warfare 3 can easily double it. Activision should be announcing something soon.

Anyone hear how there's going to 20 pieces of DLC for MW3? That's nuts! I won't be paying $15 for each of them. I found some new Modern Warfare 3 cheats at http://mwarfare3.com. One of them allows you to be a juggernaut on multiplayer. I'm going to take a video of it tonight and upload on youtube. Game is so cool!
