Media Create Japanese Hardware Sales for week ending November 6th: 3DS sells 145k

3DS Super Mario 3D Land

This week’s Media Create hardware chart is all about the 3DS’ incredible sales following the release of Super Mario 3D Land in Japan. Nintendo’s handheld sold a whopping 145 271 units during the last week - more than twice its previous sales performance. This week’s astonishing 3DS numbers just goes to show that Japanese consumers are more than willing to buy the console to play big-name franchises like Super Mario - a trend which is likely to continue when the next Mario Kart, Monster Hunter and Pokemon games are released on 3DS.

The rest of the chart reads fairly similarly to last week’s figures. The PSP sold 2 653 units less than last week while PS3 sales are up by 1 749 units. I was expecting the release of Uncharted 3 on November 2nd to boost PS3 sales substantially but it looks like it didn’t convince very many people to go out and buy a PS3 just so they could experience Drake’s latest adventure.

You can find the full list of hardware numbers below, while this week’s software chart is located over here.

Mario has just paved the road Gold for the 3DS. Its going to sell even more than before. It even got me to want to buy one just for Mario.
