We’re wrapping up another week here on El33tonline after an intensely insane and amazing rAge 2011 in Johannesburg last weekend.

While we’re a little relieved that we aren’t working through the rigmarole of setting up and running our precious Stand 28 this weekend, it’s with a little sadness that we realise the show is over and we have to wait until next year before seeing all of our online friends again in person.

In short, ‘we have a sad.’

To take our minds off of this realisation, we’re going to be playing a selection of games that we hope to be every bit as good as they promise - here’s what a few of us here at El33tonline are up to this weekend:

“This is the first weekend with Dark Souls in my possession so I’ll be making full use of the extended time at my disposal to forge ahead in this all-consuming action RPG.

Dark Souls is one of those games which invade your mind even when you don’t have a controller in your hands - you’re constantly thinking about ways to tweak your strategy to progress just a little bit further in whichever area is currently serving as your home base, and it’s also not uncommon to catch yourself making mental checklists of which weapons need to be upgraded next or which detours need to be made to properly utilise the various rare items residing in your inventory.

Of course, this weekend I’ll also be watching the Rugby World Cup quarterfinals and giving the Bokke my full support on Sunday morning!

“It comes around as regularly as a mid-morning mantra… The weekend is already here, again! It feels like just a few days ago I had taken a fancy flight to JHB to avoid any more contact with those pesky zombies, only to be surrounded by a bunch of zombie impersonators at rAge 2011. Go figure.

I’m back home this weekend and spending quality time with my girls, the Boks, and my Xbox. I’ll probably give the zombies of Banoi a rest from my deadly left foot and focus my attentions on this new X-Men game. Hopefully there won’t be any undead brain-festering mutant zombie wannabes in this one…”

“Do not go gentle into that good night…

It’s all about id Software’s latest game for me this weekend, and I’ll be living in the wastelands of RAGE for as long as necessary to complete the adventures contained within the legendary developer’s latest first-person shooter.

It’s been too long, id.

I don’t think I’ll have much time for anything else, but if I do, I may just hop into some multiplayer. Resistance 3 and Gears of War 3 have been calling me lately, but a different kind of rAge has been muffling their cries for attention. We’ll see…”

“This weekend I will be mostly dissecting my old broken PS3 so that I can pry out my copy of Dragon Age 2 that has been stuck inside it’s cold corpse of a body. To celebrate, I shall go a couple rounds with Supremacy MMA, which has been teaching me that button mashing is not always the answer. Nonetheless, a good time is bound to be had.”
