Now that Battlefield 3 has been unleashed around the world (read El33tonline’s review over here), EA and DICE have revealed a few additional details on the upcoming add-on content, Back to Karkand, including release window and price information.
And new screenshots.
Releasing in December as an addition to Battlefield 3, the Back to Karkand Expansion Pack includes the following new content:
- 4 Revisited classic Battlefield 2 maps
- Strike at Karkand
- Wake Island
- Gulf of Oman
- Sharqi Peninsula
- 10 Iconic BF2 weapons
- 8 New personal customization camos
- 3 New vehicles
- DPV
- BTR-90
- F-35B STOVL jet fighter
- 5 New Achievements/Trophies
- 10 New custom dogtags
- New persistence with 12 assignments
You can get an idea of pricing information for Back to Karkand at EA’s Origin digital distribution service - currently, the expansion is on pre-order at a reduced price of R99 in South Africa and 15 Euro in Europe.
Of course, if you pre-ordered Battlefield 3 and got the Limited Edition of the game, you’ll receive Back to Karkand for free once it’s released.

Day one - oh yeah.
It's going to take a while for me to get tired of the current BF3 maps, but maybe by the time these are released in December...
Im loving BF3 playing the single player on hard is a good challenge and the MP is awesome, its going to take a bit to get into the new bits for the recon class im dieing allot but its so much fun
I'm so happy and excited that I got the LE of BF3. Can't wait for more maps, more guns and more BF3.....huh rah.
this game is just really really awesome. I so want to go home now to play some BF3.
