Warner Bros. Interactive and Rocksteady Studios’ latest blockbuster action adventure game, Batman: Arkham City, has hit the top of Chart Track’s UK Software Sales listing this week to become the fourth biggest videogame launch in the UK this year, following in the footsteps of other big name titles like FIFA 12, Gears of War 3 and LA Noire.
According to Chart Track, Batman: Arkham City sold almost twice as many units than its predecessor, Batman: Arkham Asylum, during launch week, which is an amazing accomplishment considering that game’s overwhelming reception.
Football Manager 2011 is another debut title on the chart this week and shows up at No. 3, and only 1 800 units in sales behind FIFA 12 (sales down 25%) which is a non-mover at No. 2.
Last week’s No. 1, Forza Motorsport 4 (sales down 52%) steps down to No. 4 while Just Dance 3 (sales down 12%) moves to No. 5 from No. 3 last week. The last debut title in the Top Ten this week, The Sims 3: Pets, appears at No. 6, ahead of PES 2012 (sales down 52%) at No. 7 (down from No. 5) and RAGE (sales down 63%), which is down to No. 8 from No. 4 last week.
The Top Ten is rounded off with Zumba Fitness (sales down 1%) which is down one place to No. 9, and Gears of War 3 (sales down 34%) tumbles four places to No. 10.
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One meanwhile debuts at No. 24 on the chart, and Dance Central 2 shows up at No. 40.

Comments:
I'm happy the Batman is selling so well, also very glad that RAGE is still in the top 10. the game is awesome. Sad Gears of war 3 dropped down to 10.
And whats up with the Zumba not going down?
Very good news indeed - let's see how everything shakes down with Battlefield 3 this week and Uncharted 3 the following week - it's gonna' be a hot time in the old UK Charts!
Haha, Zumba Fitness keeps selling - it's just one of those mythical 'evergreen' titles, I guess. Nintendo would be proud (and envious!).
I think Battlefield 3 is going to be a number one seller. Hopefully it will hold on to the top for a while. But the thing is, there is so many top title coming out now.
I think both Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 will dominate the charts as they release. Skyrim might claim top spot for a week, but that will be it.
No game can compete with the amount of fans those two games have.
I do hope Uncharted makes to number 1 it and stays there for a bit... Side note: I was totally underwhelmed by Batman. Not nearly as good as I expected. I enjoyed Arkham Asylum MUCH more.
I agree with Thanticore, the fan base around BF3 and MW3 is huge, I personally think Uncharted will sell well, but with it only being on one platform will make it suffer a bit compared to the multiplatfom games like BF3, MW3 and Batman. WE will just have to wait and see what happens.
