If you want to ensure that you get PS Vita on the day it launches in South Africa then you’ll be pleased to know Kalahari is now accepting pre-orders for the handheld.
The online retailer has pegged PS Vita’s price at R3299.95 although they do not specify whether this is for the 3G or Wi-Fi only model. It is still unclear at this point whether the 3G option will even be available in South Africa.
Other sites similar to Kalahari such as TAKEALOT, Loot and BT Games have not yet specified a price for PS Vita so it’s difficult to gauge how close Kalahari’s offer is to the RRP (recommended retail price) for South Africa.
The release date for PS Vita in SA is also uncertain. TAKEALOT suggests February 29th 2012 while BT Games’ ETA for PSV is the best case scenario - February 22nd.

Comments:
The price is steep, but i think it is worth it for such a powerful handheld gaming machine. I won't be getting it on launch day sadly. But will GET one in the future.
It has been confirmed that the Vita will be more expensive than a PS3, so I fear that the R3300 may be the non 3G version, which will be even more expensive.
On one hand, that's a lot of a handheld gaming device, on the other, it's still much cheaper than an iPhone.
I would just get the WiFi only model, as I'll connect it to the internet at home via WiFi anyway, and if I'm in the shops, I'll go sit at Muggnbean and use my 300 free WiFi minutes there. Its still bit pricey.
