Microsoft Studios acquires Twisted Pixel

Microsoft Studios has acquired Indie game developer Twisted Pixel, the popular studio behind Xbox LIVE Arcade’s Splosion Man and The Gunstringer for Kinect.

Twisted Pixel was first established in 2006 and has since been wowing us with their innovative and humourous titles. According to the press release the developer “will now bring its talented team of developers to Microsoft Studios to help incubate and develop the future of game and entertainment offerings on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 platform.”

Twisted Pixel Logo They become the latest member of Microsoft Studios, joining Lionhead Studios and Rare Ltd “on a team whose charter is to create exclusive experiences that differentiate Microsoft’s platforms.”

Both parties are suitably excited about the acquisition, and had this to say:

This is great news. I really enjoy there games. I need to get The Gunstringer game for kinect. It looks really fun, and i can't wait to see what games they bring out in the future. Well done Microsoft and Twisted Pixel.
