EA has today announced that the publisher’s recently released military-themed first-person shooter, Battlefield 3, has gone on to sell an incredible five million units during its first week on sale, worldwide.
The epic and beautiful world of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim must have needed appropriately epic and beautiful concept art to guide the art direction of the game as it was being created, and newly unveiled artwork does nothing to dissuade us from this assumption - the artwork is incredible!
In an entry to a fascinating series of ‘Hero’s Guide to Amalur’ videos, EA and Big Huge Games attempt to explain the far-reaching implications and curious inner workings of ‘destiny and fate’ in the publisher/developer pair’s Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
We say ‘attempt’ because there’s a lot of information to take in, and even though it seems very simple and easy-to-use on the surface, the possibilities resulting from the action RPG’s allowance to sculpt and build a character of your choosing has us reeling.
Is Juliet just an average, everyday girl who happens to have been caught up in a zombie apocalypse, forced to defend herself against hordes of the undead? Or is Juliet a vicious killer who likes nothing better than to take a chainsaw to the outstretched arms of encroaching shamblers?
Or, as the player of Lollipop Chainsaw and the person controlling Juliet, are you in fact the psycho killer?
Whatever the case may be, it still doesn’t explain what’s happening in this screenshot:
Announced earlier this year and due for release on November 15th around the world, Halo: Anniversary is your chance to jump into the Halo series to see the events that kicked off a billion dollar franchise, only this time the action of Halo: Combat Evolved is presented in luscious high definition and remastered glory using the Halo: Reach engine.
Serious Sam returns in his latest alien-destroying adventures with Serious Sam 3: BFE, and like past entries to the series, you can no doubt expect lots of opportunities to obliterate dozens of enemies at a time using one of the most explosive selections of weaponry known to gaming.
Also: Expect to run backwards quite a bit.
It’s been one whole year (almost) since the Kinect motion controller for Xbox 360 was launched around the world, giving us the joy of controller-free gaming in the process.
Have you seen these latest screenshots for the co-operative portion of Mass Effect 3?
Battlefield 3 launched into retail in the UK last week and effortlessly rocked the top spot on Chart Track’s latest UK Software Sales listing, becoming the UK’s tenth biggest week-one seller in terms of units sold, and the ninth biggest by revenue.
Clear your schedules…
You want to work? You want to study? Forget that old stuff, Nathan Drake and his band of adventurers have invited you on another amazing quest to discover a new and wondrous forgotten city and ancient relic! How can you pass on this opportunity?
There will be danger. There will be betrayal. There will be romance. There will be intrigue and tense moments. And there most certainly will be a few well-timed situational quips by Monsieur Drake, but you wouldn’t have it any other way, would you?
Other than Uncharted 3, what new games are releasing around the world this week?
We’re getting awfully personal with this Question of the Day to kick off a new week here on El33tonline, but then again, we’re keen to find out more about you with all of this questioning, so that’s kind of the point.
Today we’re asking:
How did you come up with your nick?
There are already six Resident Evil titles available in digital form on the PlayStation Network, and today Capcom announced that two more games in the franchise will be coming to PS3 in the foreseeable future.
I recently played a significant amount of Dead Rising 2. I like it a lot, but the biggest gripe I had with the game was the lead character. I understand the developers wanted to throw in a new lead to make the game stand apart from the first game, Dead Rising, but in the end we all missed Frank West, the photographer who became a hero in Willamette.
So what if you fix Dead Rising 2’s biggest fault? You re-write some of the cut-scenes, use the extra time to optimize a few of the technical faults and stick Frank West in the shoes of Chuck Greene. And that is exactly what Capcom and Blue Castle Games did for Off the Record, asking “What if Frank West was stuck in Fortune City instead of Chuck Greene?”

Now that Battlefield 3 has been unleashed around the world (read El33tonline’s review over here), EA and DICE have revealed a few additional details on the upcoming add-on content, Back to Karkand, including release window and price information.
And new screenshots.
