Remastered, PS3-exclusive Tomb Raider Trilogy hits in March

The Tomb Raider Trilogy Pack - Box Art SmallTomb Raider franchise stewards Crystal Dynamics recently announced the existence of The Tomb Raider Trilogy Pack, a collection of remastered Tomb Raider games that will become available exclusively for the PlayStation 3 at the end of March this year.

Comprising high-definition quality renditions of Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary, as well as the most recent Lara Croft adventure, Tomb Raider Underworld, The Tomb Raider Trilogy Pack will also include a specially-created PS3 theme, an official Lara Croft female Home avatar outfit, the Viking Thrall male Home avatar outfit, and a collection of high-definition ‘making of’ trailers featuring behind-the-scenes looks at development of games from the entire Tomb Raider series.

Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics, Darrell Gallagher said of the pack:

“We’re really excited to be able to offer gamers the chance to play both Legend and Anniversary ‘remastered in high definition on the PlayStation 3. These are two titles we are extremely proud to have created.”

The Tomb Raider Trilogy Pack will launch on March 22nd in North America, and March 25th in the UK and Europe.

Don’t forget about the next Tomb Raider game in the series, ‘Tomb Raider,’ which is something of a reboot for the franchise and features the adventures of a much younger Lara Croft as she discovers her ‘inner adventurer.’

Remastered in HD? I don't really get that anymore. These titles were developed for 360 and PS3 to be entirely different from the PS2 version. So technically they should be HD already. Is this just a new way to advertise the platinum collection triple pack?

I think Legend and Anniversary were still slightly hindered by the need to develop for PS2 and Wii platforms simultaneously, so the art assets may be lower quality, while the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions just had their resolutions cranked up... or something.

I know Crystal Dynamics made a big deal about Underworld being the first true 'next generation' Tomb Raider game in the series, so it follows that the previous two games were of lower quality, graphically.
