PlayStation 3 firmware update 3.56 is now live
The latest firmware update for the PlayStation 3 is now live around the world, bringing everybody’s consoles to version 3.56.
From a post on the PlayStation Blog explaining what’s new:
“A new PS3 system software update, v3.56, will be released soon. This is a minor update that adds a security patch.”
It didn’t take long for hackers to crack this latest firmware release wide open, however, and according to reports this ‘security patch’ has already been circumvented, allowing for the continued use of custom, homebrew firmware.
We can probably expect another official firmware update from Sony in the coming week to try to strengthen security again.
