I think we can all agree that Capcom has more than enough game franchises in its stable to keep gamers going for at least the next five years, and even if the Japanese publishing giant simply released sequels for years to come, fans would still lap up Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Mega Man, Monster Hunter, Dead Rising, Devil May Cry, Phoenix Wright…
Capcom HQ, however, isn’t content to rest on its laurels and continue to cash cheques with ease. According to a comment made by development manager Jun Takeuchi, the company is due to announce two new and original games (said to be ‘large scale’) in the next few months, possibly even at E3 in June this year.
What could these games be?
Late last year Capcom announced new titles in the form of that Devil May Cry reboot (from Ninja Theory), as well as the insane-looking Asura’s Wrath (from CyberConnect2). Additionally, the company will be bringing at least three new games to Nintendo’s 3DS, with Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, and Resident Evil: Revelations, not to mention Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney.
Marvel VS Capcom 3 is also scheduled for release this February, and two new Mega Man projects were announced in 2010 in the form of Mega Man Legends 3 and Mega Man Universe, so already, Capcom is extremely busy this year.
That didn’t stop Capcom’s Jun Takeuchi from telling Japanese game magazine Famitsu about the company’s plans to reveal two original games to add to the line-up.
Knee-jerk internet reactions point to Resident Evil 6, which voice actor DC Douglas (who played Albert Wesker in previous Resident Evil games) called out as being ‘a thing,’ but if you take Takeuchi’s words at face value, we’re talking about two original games, i.e. games that don’t already belong in established Capcom franchises.
We’ll just have to wait and see (and scrape the rumour mills) what Capcom has up its collective sleeves, and what new ‘large scale’ franchises it has planned for gamers.

Wow, this is awesome news! I would be very keen for Resident Evil 6, but you're right strictly speaking this wouldn't be an original game. I wonder what they have up their sleeve?
My breath is bated with anticipation!
Oxygen levels are dropping fast, so Capcom had better announce these games soon... feeling... sleepy...
