Join us now as we journey into a world of magic and whimsy. A land jostling and heated with madness and chaos. A kingdom twisted and warped by regurgitated lies, half-truths and mirrored reality, all moulded into a lonesome form that would send you on a voyage of insanity with a single blink of its crusted eye.
Welcome to… ‘The Rumour Zone!’
Ahead of a much-anticipated Sony-hosted press event taking place in Tokyo this week, Japanese newspaper Nikkei has released some interesting details and features on a prospective PSP 2 – the device that Sony is widely expected to announce at the event.
If such a handheld console were to exist (wink-wink), the PSP 2 would potentially make use of 3G, and in Japan at least, this online connectivity service will be supported by NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s largest mobile provider. This will allow users in the region to play online games and download applications and videos via the PSP 2 where ever a wireless service is available.
Nikkei also reports that the PSP 2 will employ the use of a larger-than-normal touch screen imbued with OLED technology, while a new Sony-created processor has been used to capably deliver high resolution visuals on this screen. Nikkei doesn’t yet have any pricing information for a supposed ‘PSP 2.’
Related to this, Nikkei refers to another ‘known’ but unreleased and unannounced Sony product, the PlayStation Phone, which is reportedly a smart phone but with handheld console-like features to make gaming easier and more intuitive on the device, while using Google’s Android mobile operating system which is gaining ground in the market and in developer circles.
We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled on January 27th when Sony’s expected press event takes place, where we hope to get our first looks at this ‘PSP 2’ and perhaps even the PlayStation Phone, too.
