According to a report on Gamespot, we don’t have too much longer to wait for Double Fine’s next downloadable title, Stacking, as the Russian nesting doll-featuring game has received early February release dates for both Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Network!
We first learned about Stacking late last year when Double Fine announced that THQ would once again be bringing the studio’s experimental interactive visions to digital life, as the publisher did with Costume Quest.
Stacking looks and sounds to be even more creative than that game, however, as it stars a diminutive fellow by the name of Charlie Blackmore, but due to his stature he’s able to do what Russian nesting dolls do best – ‘stack’ inside dolls larger than himself!
In this way, Charlie is able to climb inside of other characters and take control of them, making use of their unique abilities and items in order to progress through an open-world adventure. Of course, Double Fine has injected Stacking with tons of great puzzles and challenges so progression isn’t as simple as it sounds!
Stacking will become available on the PlayStation Network on February 8th for $14.99, and then on Xbox LIVE Arcade on February 9th for 1200 MS Points.
You can find the debut trailer for Stacking, and a batch of screenshots for the game, over here.
