Did you vote to save or kill GoW 3's Carmine, and help raise $150 000 for Child’s Play?

The results of Epic and Microsoft’s Gears of War 3 campaign are in, and depending on the kind of virtual (or real) shirt you bought, you’ve gone and sealed the fate of one Clayton Carmine, as well as help to raise $150 000 for the Child’s Play charity.

What on earth am I yammering on about? Let’s start over.

Gears of War 3 - Save Carmine Campaign

Clayton Carmine is a new character set to be introduced in Epic’s upcoming Gears of War 3. He’s one of a family of brothers, two of which have met their end in gruesome and grisly ways in the original Gears of War, and Gears of War 2.

With Gears of War 3, however, Epic decided to give their audience an opportunity to vote on the ultimate fate of the third brother, Clayton Carmine, by buying one of two shirts available through Xbox LIVE Marketplace as an Avatar accessory, or available to buy in ‘the real world.’

A purchase of one shirt would be a vote to spare Carmine’s life in Gears of War 3, but if you bought the other shirt, you would be voting to kill him off in the game.

The final results are in, and those of you who bought the shirts (virtual or real) contributed to a whopping $150 000 that will go to the Penny Arcade Child’s Play children’s charity.

Unfortunately, as you can see for yourself in the video below, Epic isn’t too forthcoming with the final vote tally, so we’ll have to wait until Gears of War 3 releases in April next year to find out if Carmine lives… or dies.

Watch the waja-inducing video announcing the achievement (and featuring Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski and Rod Fergusson) below:
