Although the downloadable title was meant to release a little earlier this year, the development team behind Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 wisely decided to delay the game’s release, not only to ensure “overall high-quality throughout the game,” but also to add iOS devices (iPhone, iPad) to the list of release platforms.

Now almost four months later, SEGA has announced a set of official release dates for Sonic 4: Episode 1 as the title hits a variety of game devices, in a variety of territories.

Sonic 4: Episode 1 will first appear on the iTunes App Store on October 7th, followed by the Wii Shop Channel on October 11th in the US and October 15th in EMEA territories (for 1500 Wii Points).

The PlayStation Network will get the game on October 12th in the US and October 13th in EMEA territories (for $14.99 / £9.99 / €12.99), and Xbox LIVE Marketplace will see the title appear on the virtual store shelf on October 13th across all territories (for 1200 MS Points).
