Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 hasn’t yet seen a suitable challenge on the Xbox LIVE Activity ranking since its release in November 2009, this much is true. Week in, week out, the game consistently shows up at the top of the chart, reigning supreme as the number one most played game on the service, worldwide.

That time may soon be at an end, however.

This latest listing for the week of September 13th reveals a new challenger, Halo: Reach, effortlessly climbing over the seemingly inert bodies of other chart entries to become the third most played game on Xbox LIVE. Second goes to Reach’s older sibling, Halo 3. The next few weeks of Xbox LIVE activity are going to be interesting, for sure.

The list of best-selling Xbox LIVE Arcade games is still dominated by Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, while Monday Night Combat and Scott Pilgrim VS The World: The Game swap places from last week. The top-selling Xbox Indie games list is unchanged from last week, which is an incredible surprise (Note: Incredible sarcasm), as Military Sniper-Sim 3.18, I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1, and The Impossible Game make up the top three.

Grand Theft Auto IV is the most played game on Games For Windows LIVE, as Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II and Fallout 3 come in second and third respectively.
