Tokyo Game Show 2010 sees over 200 000 visitors - a record attendance

Tokyo Game Show Image Last week, Tokyo Game Show 2010 took place over four days and saw an incredible amount of exciting new videogame announcements and extended looks at upcoming games, mostly from Japanese developers (what a surprise!).

With this excitement came record attendance figures for the show, as over 200 000 business people and members of the public came to see what the fuss was about.

The first two days of Tokyo Game Show are traditionally dedicated to business people (publishers, developers, distributors, retailers, press) and then during the following two days, the conference halls are opened up to the public, and this year was no different.

You can see the attendance figure breakdown below:

  • 9/16 (business day): 24 764
  • 9/17 (business day): 24 229
  • 9/18 (public day): 81 469
  • 9/19 (public day): 77 185
  • Total Attendance: 207 647

If you were to compare these figures to those of last year’s TGS, not only would you see that attendance is up by almost 23 000 people, but you would also notice that during the public days, there were many more people visiting the show than in 2009 – a very healthy sign for the organisers!

Next year’s Tokyo Game Show will take place from September 15th through to the 18th, or September 16th through to the 18th, as the organisers decide on whether or not to hold only one business day, rather than two.
