Someone mail Merriam-Webster, quick! After watching this latest Tokyo Game Show trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, they’re going to need to update the meaning of the word ‘epic.’
I am not joking!
The Mercury Steam-developed, Kojima Products-produced Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is looking more epic than epic, and will next month deliver “a fresh and radical re-imagining of the vastly popular series with an epic tale of love, despair and hope, in a time when the dead walk among the living.”
In Lords of Shadow, you’ll be placed in the shoes of one Gabriel Belmont (voiced by Robert Carlyle), who sets off on a quest to unite pieces of an ancient relic called ‘The God Mask,’ which will help free souls of the dead who find themselves trapped on Earth.
The God Mask has the power to purify the world, and bring the dead back to life, apparently:
“Along Gabriel’s journey gamers will traverse over 50 diverse and beautifully realized 3D stages, come up against over 45 enemies, and defeat huge adversaries in real time with skill, power and timing. In total, the game boasts over 40 possible combo attacks that can be added to Gabriel’s arsenal.”

Comments:
I really hope this game turns out to be more than just another God of War clone. It has potential, but a hands on preview that I read made me worry a little. I'll wait for some reviews to roll in before I make my final judgement.
I'm hoping for the same thing. This new trailer makes the game's story look amazingly epic, but at gamescom we saw (but didn't manage to play) the game running in person...
... like you, I'll have to reserve judgement until the final game is released, or in my hands. ;)
