Sequel to CG Resident Evil: Degeneration movie currently in the works

Resident Evil: Degeneration Image Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan have jointly announced that a new full-length CG animation feature based in the Resident Evil universe is currently being co-produced by the two companies, and will serve as the sequel to previous CG movie, Resident Evil: Degeneration.

Entitled Resident Evil: Damnation, the movie will feature Leon S. Kennedy as the main character. The movie is currently in production and is scheduled for a “terrifying 3D release” in Japan in 2012.

A Capcom press release reads:

“While the predecessor ‘Resident Evil: Degeneration’ had only a limited 2-week / 3-screen theatrical release in Japan, Box Office sales surpassed 40 million yen, and the home video release has shipped more than 1.6 million copies worldwide, making the film a global hit.”

Pretty dang impressive!

There’s been a bit of a mixed response to this news of a new CG Resident Evil movie - it seems as though fans (as usual) either loved or hated Degeneration. Gamers are also expressing their interest in seeing another character, other than Leon, appear in the starring role. How about Chris or Jill as the headliner?

What say you?

Hierarchy: previous, next

I'm not ashamed to admit that I own Degeneration on Blu-ray and that it was pretty darn awesome!

I would definitely be interested in taking a look at Damnation, but only if it stars Chris - he's just so much cooler than Leon! (and he has bigger biceps too)

I still need to watch Degeneration... to formulate my own opinion on the matter, of course. ;)
