Timegate Studios has announced that a sequel to 2009’s multiplayer-focussed first-person shooter, Section 8, is currently underway, and is set to improve upon the original game is just about every way possible.
Entitled Section 8: Prejudice, the new game from Timegate will release in early 2011, and will most probably be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC like its predecessor, although that hasn’t yet been confirmed.
The original Section 8 allowed players to take control of a suited up soldier that was tasked with dropping into intense battlefields from outside a planet’s orbit, and then mopping up enemies with an array of high-tech weaponry.
As you can see in the trailer for Section 8: Prejudice below, this gameplay mechanic will be reappearing, as will the high-tech weaponry and enemies, but in an interview with GameSpot, the game’s design director Brett Norton assured readers that the development team is striving to make Prejudice “awesome.”
From the interview:
“[W]e came up with huge list of everything we wanted to do to make Prejudice an amazing game and set out to do it,” said Norton. “I’m very happy to say that we’ve completed nearly the entire list.”
The interview also delves specifically into what will make Prejudice a better game than the original Section 8, which all makes for great reading – have a look at that interview over here.
For now, though, you can watch a pretty dang exciting debut trailer for Section 8: Prejudice below:
