August's NPD top twenty software sales conquered by Nintendo and Madden

Madden NFL 11 - Xbox LIVE Box ArtNPD Group, the sales tracking and research firm that brings us news of the US videogame industry’s monthly revenue, has released a list of the top twenty best-selling titles for the month of August, extending the top ten list revealed in the company’s initial report.

And wouldn’t you know it - Nintendo (that plucky little upstart videogame developer from Japan) has once again conquered the list as no less than ten Nintendo platform titles appear on the chart, seven of which were produced and developed at the publisher.

Let’s not forget about this month’s chart gorilla, however – Madden NFL 11 managed to occupy first (Xbox 360), second (PS3) and third (PS2) on the listing, while chart regulars like Just Dance, Red Dead Redemption, Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart DS also feature.

Have a look through August’s software sales results for yourself (and act all surprised) below:

  • 1.) Madden NFL 11 (360) - 920 800
  • 2.) Madden NFL 11 (PS3) – 893 600
  • 3.) Super Mario Galaxy 2 – 124 600
  • 4.) Mafia II (360) – 121 600
