Nintendo of America has announced that it will be dropping the prices of the DSi and DSi XL in North America.
From the 12th of September the DSi will retail for $149.99 while the DSi XL will be available for $169.99. The DS Lite will remain at $129.99.
“We know shoppers want to get the maximum value out of every dollar they spend,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Our new Nintendo DSi prices make it easier than ever for consumers to access the tremendous variety of games, applications and social tools on the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL systems.”
According to the NDP Group, over 42.3 million DS family hardware units have been sold in the US as at the end of July. And that number will no doubt keep on climbing with popular new and upcoming titles including Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (out now), Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (12 Sept), Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs (4 Oct), Art Academy (25 Oct), Mario vs Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem (14 Nov), and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn (29 Nov).
