The Pokemon series of videogames has proven to be something of a phenomenon over the years, and an enormous franchise that generates revenue that could fund a medium-sized country – perhaps you’ve heard of this ‘Pokemon’ of which I speak? I don’t want to assume anything.
To prove the massive success and excitement the mere name of Pokemon is able to produce, it’s been revealed that pre-order figures for the next games in the series, Pokemon Black and Pokemon White, have exceeded 1 million in Japan.
This means that, on launch day on September 19th in Japan, and over that week, Pokemon Black and White are together guaranteed to sell 1 million copies at least.
Apparently, this pre-order figure is a record for the Pokemon series in the region of Japan, and most probably some kind of worldwide record, too.
While Japanese gamers will get Pokemon Black and White next month, the games are set to release in 2011 in North America and Europe.
While you anxiously wait for this day to arrive, you can pass the time by perusing El33tonline’s extensive previous coverage of Pokemon Black and White, where you’ll find a host of screenshots, gameplay videos, and tons of extra information.
