Rock Band 3 lead designer joins Twisted Pixel to be more ‘hands on’

Twisted Pixel Logo You may not know his name, but you certainly know his game – game developer Dan Teasdale has been working at Harmonix for a number of years, contributing to the development of a few iterations of Rock Band in a variety of roles, including senior and lead designer.

Now that development of the currently in-the-works Rock Band 3 is coming to a close, Teasdale has decided it’s time to try something a little different, and get back to a development role that allows him both the freedom to “help drive the vision and direction of a game,” and be more hands-on with a game, and “physically implement and iterate on the low level of making games in a more substantial way than time affords me when working as a lead on multi-hundred person titles.”

This means that the Rock Band 3 lead designer has decided to join Twisted Pixel in Austin, Texas. Creators of The Maw, ‘Splosion Man and the upcoming Comic Jumper: The Adventures of Captain Smiley, Teasdale will soon begin work on a “ridiculously cool new project” at the studio, with what he calls a “close knit superteam” of developers.

El33tonline are super fans of Twisted Pixel and the developer’s work, and to hear that a game industry veteran such as Dan Teasdale is joining the studio to help make their future games even better is magic to our collective ears.

You should read Teasdale’s blog post, spelling out his reasons for leaving Harmonix and joining Twisted Pixel, over here.
